Monitoring Health Status... Distribution of Cold Weather Supplies
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 12 that it will implement a “Strengthened Cold Wave Health Management Plan” to minimize health risks among vulnerable groups ahead of the winter season.
The city has designated the period from November 15 to March 15 of next year as the cold wave response period. During this time, Hwaseong City will work in close cooperation with relevant organizations to make every effort to minimize seasonal health risks.

In particular, the city is taking early action by focusing on the Western, Dongtan, and Eastern Public Health Centers to support approximately 9,000 registered home-visit health management recipients who are considered vulnerable to cold waves, including those with chronic illnesses, elderly people living alone, and individuals with limited mobility.
During the plan period, the city will monitor health status and provide cold wave prevention education through various methods such as home visits, phone calls, and text messages. Officials will check basic health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar, and offer guidance on winter health management, including cold-related illness prevention tips and fall prevention exercises.
For vulnerable groups, the city has prepared cold weather supplies such as thermal blankets, hot packs, and socks, which will be distributed sequentially. Hwaseong City will also inform residents about the “Gyeonggi Climate Insurance” program, which provides compensation for “climate disaster accidents” if a person is diagnosed with an injury requiring at least two weeks of treatment due to a fall on icy roads caused by cold waves or heavy snow.
Gwak Maeheon, Director of Hwaseong City Western Public Health Center, stated, “We will continue to strengthen our response to climate crises such as heat waves and cold waves in order to protect the health of vulnerable groups.”
