"I sincerely welcome all of you who have come to Sejong from across the country to participate in the marathon. Just like 'Ariari,' a pure Korean word that means breaking through blocked paths, I hope everyone enjoys a healthy daily life."
Minho Choi, Mayor of Sejong City, made these remarks at the 1st Sejong City National Marathon, held at Sejong Citizens’ Sports Complex on November 9 to support the successful hosting of the 2027 Chungcheong Universiade.
The event, hosted by the Sejong City Athletics Federation and organized by the Disabled Athletics Federation, was arranged to foster a healthy sports culture and create a safe competition environment.
With a total of about 4,000 participants, including amateur marathoners and officials, the event featured a 10 km health course for the general division, a 5 km course for the general division, and a 5 km course for the student division. On site, citizens and participants from all over the country shared cheers, further enhancing the spirit of unity.
Various prize draws were also held, adding to the richness and enjoyment of the event.
