Mayor Lee Sangil: "Systematic Support to Begin Next Year with Launch of Commercial District Revitalization Center"
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 10 that it has newly designated two areas, "Pungdeokcheon" and "Nuri," as alley-type shopping districts.
Once designated as an "alley-type shopping district," businesses can register as Onnuri gift certificate affiliates, and the sales threshold for local currency affiliation is eased from less than 1.2 billion won to less than 3 billion won. They are also eligible to participate in various public projects, such as commercial district environment improvement and revitalization support programs.
The newly designated "Pungdeokcheon Alley-type Shopping District" covers 9,899 square meters around 119 Pungdeokcheon-ro, Suji-gu, north of Suji-gu Office Station on the Shinbundang subway line. Ninety-nine stores are concentrated in this area.
The "Nuri Alley-type Shopping District" is a 15,743-square-meter area around 20 Jukjeon-ro, Giheung-gu, where 200 stores are clustered. To the east of the shopping district are the Bojeong-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the Bojeong Integrated Welfare Center, which is currently under construction.
While there were no alley-type shopping districts in Yongin during the 7th civil administration, 17 have been designated since the start of the 8th civil administration. Yongin Mayor Lee Sangil stated, "The fact that we have designated as many as 17 alley-type shopping districts in Yongin, where there were none during the 7th administration, is intended to revitalize commercial areas throughout the city."
Mayor Lee added, "To ensure more professional designation and revitalization of alley-type shopping districts, we will launch a 'Commercial District Revitalization Center' next year," and continued, "Through this, we will establish strategies tailored to each shopping district and plan revitalization support projects that reflect the unique characteristics of each area."
