On the 7th, Hyundai Wia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on "robot parking solutions" with Hyundai Engineering & Construction at the Hyundai Wia Uiwang Research Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province.

The two companies will develop robot-customized parking lots optimized for parking robot operations, maximizing parking space and operational efficiency by considering robot operations from the architectural and design stages.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction will identify new project sites for the introduction of parking robots and devise customized design plans. Hyundai Wia will provide solutions including parking robots and related control software, and will also be responsible for designing the infrastructure necessary for the installation and operation of the parking robots.

On this day, Hyundai Wia held a parking robot demonstration event, showcasing the efficiency and technological capabilities of the new parking robot. In response to the increasing number of heavy vehicles such as electric vehicles and SUVs weighing well over 2 tons, the maximum weight of vehicles that can be moved has been increased from 2.2 tons to 3.4 tons. The company has also developed a "smart control system" capable of simultaneously controlling more than 50 parking robots.
