Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office Holds Unveiling Ceremony for Korean War Veterans Memorial Plaque at Jangyu Middle School

The Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office successfully held the unveiling ceremony for the "Jangyu Middle School Korean War Veterans Memorial Plaque" on the campus of Jangyu Middle School.

The "Jangyu Middle School Korean War Veterans Memorial Plaque" commemorates 51 alumni from Jangyu Middle School who served in the Korean War (11 killed in action and 40 veterans). The plaque was established to honor their noble spirit of sacrifice and contribution, with full funding provided by the national government. Construction began in September this year and was completed on November 7.


This memorial was built to honor the noble intentions of the Korean War veterans who sacrificed and dedicated themselves for the country, and to promote the values of patriotism so that students, as the next generation, may engrain the spirit of national defense in their hearts.


At the unveiling ceremony held on November 7, 18 family members of the veterans whose names are engraved on the plaque attended, adding significance to the event. The ceremony was also attended by Assemblyman Kim Joungho, Gyeongnam Gimhae Office of Education Superintendent Ahn Kyungae, Bae Daehan, President of the Gimhae Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, as well as leaders of veterans' organizations.


Director Kim Sangwoo remarked in his commemorative address, "The establishment of this memorial plaque is a tribute to the dedication of the veterans and holds significant educational value in nurturing a love for the nation among students, who are the future leaders. I hope that through this memorial, the precious values of freedom and peace will continue to be passed down without end."
