Promotion of AIoT Smart Public Parking Lots at Seven Locations
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pilhyoung), announced on November 7 that it will expand the “Unmanned Parking Fee Payment System Implementation and Operation” project to improve the operational efficiency of parking lots at Cheongnyangni Traditional Market and enhance user convenience.
The unmanned payment system, which had previously only been introduced at Cheongnyangni Market’s 3rd Public Parking Lot, will be expanded to the 1st and 2nd Public Parking Lots starting in January next year. The new system will officially begin operation on January 1, and will support a variety of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, Samsung Pay, virtual accounts, and mobile apps.
For national merit recipients, persons with disabilities, compact cars, and low-emission vehicles, fee discounts will be automatically applied through linkage with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s registration information, with no additional procedures required. In addition, those eligible for discounts under Dongdaemun-gu ordinances, such as veterans, holders of the Multi-Child Happiness Card, and war veterans, can receive guidance from the customer center and access discount services by pressing the call button on the unmanned payment terminal.
Dongdaemun-gu has also been selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “Smart Village Deployment and Expansion” public project, securing 800 million won in national funding, and is currently promoting the “AIoT (Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things) Smart Public Parking Lot Establishment Project.”
At seven locations, including the Hoegi-dong Public Parking Lot, the district plans to introduce autonomous patrol robots, an AI-based CCTV vacant space guidance system, and automated payment services (Baro Green Payment and Hi-Pass), creating an advanced parking environment. The project aims for completion in May next year, and after a pilot operation, it will be gradually expanded based on feedback from residents.
Lee Pilhyoung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We expect that expanding the unmanned parking fee payment system will provide a more convenient and efficient parking environment for customers visiting the market,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to improve parking lot services by utilizing smart technologies.”
