Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) carried out a variety of mental health awareness activities for local residents throughout October, in recognition of Mental Health Day (October 10).

This promotional campaign was organized under the theme of the National Center for Mental Health’s awareness brand, “Face-to-Face,” and included both on-site campaigns using the “Mind Relief Bus” and online participatory events.
The on-site campaign was held under the slogans “Face-to-Face, My Mind” and “Pay Attention, Your Mind,” and was conducted five times over the course of the month at various locations, including Mirae Flower Complex, High Repeum, Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park, Dongbusan Nonghyup Materials Center, and Gijang County National Sports Center, in a mobile outreach format.
At these events, residents could receive mental health screenings, and those classified as at-risk were offered counseling and referral support to specialized institutions. A county official reported that many residents responded positively, saying, “It was good to be able to check the state of my mind through the screening.”
Additionally, an online event themed “Let’s Relieve Together” was held. Participants shared stress-relief items and methods through the Gijang County Mental Health Welfare Center website, exchanging messages of empathy and encouragement.
Beyond this, the county continued resident participation-focused promotions throughout October, providing information on mental health and support systems via its website, banners, and other online and offline media.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, “I hope this campaign will help the importance of daily mental health management naturally take root among county residents,” adding, “We will continue to promote a variety of mental health enhancement policies so that all residents can enjoy happiness, including mental well-being.”
The Gijang County Mental Health Welfare Center is a mental health institution designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and any county resident struggling with mental health issues can access free counseling and support services.
