The Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on this day that it had applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 60s, surnamed Cho, adding a murder charge.

Cho is accused of wielding a kitchen knife at three association officials at the office of a low-rise housing redevelopment association in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu, at around 10:20 a.m. the previous day, resulting in death or injury.

Among the victims, a woman in her 50s ultimately died in the afternoon of the previous day, while the other two are reportedly recovering in the hospital.

At the time of the incident, Cho chased a woman in her 60s, referred to as Ms. A, who fled the building while bleeding, but was subdued by passing citizens and arrested by the police.

Cho had previously served as the head of this association, but was booked in July for allegedly molesting Ms. A and was subsequently dismissed from his position.

Four days before the crime, on October 31, the prosecution summarily indicted Cho on charges of forcible molestation.

The police plan to award commendations to a man in his 50s, a local resident who assisted in apprehending Cho, and to Song Wonyoung, age 31.
