Pusan National University Ranks 10th in Korea and 1st Among National Universities in QS Asia University Rankings

Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) ranked 76th in Asia in the "2026 QS Asia University Rankings" announced by the British global university evaluation agency QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) on November 4, maintaining its position as the top national university for the third consecutive year. Among all domestic universities, including science and technology-focused institutions, it ranked 10th.

This result marks a rise of five places from last year’s 81st position. Pusan National University has continued its upward trend in the rankings for three consecutive years, solidifying its status as a leading national university and a research-oriented institution with global competitiveness ahead of its 80th anniversary next year.

This year’s evaluation covered 1,526 Asian universities, a significant increase from 984 last year. Pusan National University rose to 76th in Asia (up from 81st the previous year) and 10th domestically (up from 11th the previous year).

Pusan National University improved its scores across all 11 evaluation indicators. Notably, it achieved remarkable results in the internationalization category, with the proportion of foreign faculty rising by 25 places and the ratio of outbound exchange students increasing by 59 places.

These achievements are attributed to the university’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its global network. Recently, Pusan National University co-hosted the "APEC University Leaders’ Forum (AULF)" with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), attracting over 230 researchers from leading global universities such as Harvard and MIT, as well as from global corporations, thereby expanding the scope of international exchange.

Kim Hyungnam, Director of Planning at Pusan National University (Professor of Electronic Engineering), stated, "This result aligns with our previous achievements: 473rd in the '2026 QS World University Rankings' (1st among national universities) and 13th in the '2025 THE Impact Rankings.' Next year, as we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we will further enhance our research competitiveness and internationalization capabilities to become a global leader university."
