Lee Changyong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, will depart on November 6 to attend the "BIS Governors’ Meeting" and other events in Basel, Switzerland, and will return on November 13.

According to the Bank of Korea on November 5, Governor Lee will participate in the "Global Economy Meeting" and the "Meeting of Governors," where he will discuss recent developments in the global economy and financial markets with the governors of member central banks. In addition, as a member of the BIS Board of Directors, he will attend the "BIS Board Meeting" and the Economic Consultative Council.
Furthermore, as Chair of the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), Governor Lee will preside over discussions on key issues facing the global financial system. Governor Lee was appointed as Chair of the BIS CGFS in 2023.
Afterward, Governor Lee will travel to Singapore to participate as a panelist in the "10th Singapore FinTech Festival" on November 12. This global fintech event, held at the Singapore Expo, brings together CEOs of major financial and fintech companies, as well as central bank governors and other policymakers from around the world. Governor Lee plans to introduce the Bank of Korea’s digital currency project "Hangang" and discuss the role of central bank money in the digital financial environment with other participants.
