Complaint Filed Against Incheon National University
Allegations of Disappeared Hiring Records Raised
On November 4, the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station launched an investigation following allegations of preferential treatment in the hiring process of Yoo Dam (31), daughter of former lawmaker Yoo Seungmin, as a full-time faculty member at the Department of International Trade, Global College of Political Economy at Incheon National University.
The complainant filed a report accusing the president of Incheon National University, the human resources officer, and members of the hiring committee of violating the Public Records Management Act.
The complaint alleges that Incheon National University failed to retain hiring-related documents that are required to be permanently preserved under the "Guidelines for New Full-Time Faculty Appointments." It also calls for a thorough investigation into whether all application documents submitted by candidates have been completely destroyed.
Yoo Dam was appointed as a professor after passing the recruitment process for new full-time faculty members for the second semester of the 2025 academic year at Incheon National University. Regarding this, Assemblywoman Jin Sunmi of the Democratic Party of Korea raised suspicions during last month's National Assembly audit, claiming that although Yoo received a low score of 18.6 in the qualitative review of her thesis, she received perfect scores in the quantitative evaluations of her career, academic background, and thesis, ranking second overall in the first stage of the review process.
The university has officially stated, "The recruitment process was conducted fairly in accordance with internal guidelines and protocols." The police have begun an investigation based on the complaint received, but specific charges and the stage of the investigation have not yet been officially confirmed.
