Park Jongpil, a proportional representative of the People Power Party in the Daegu City Council, urged the city to take responsible action and implement practical measures to revitalize the region's stagnant water industry through a written administrative inquiry on November 4.
Councilor Park stated, "Two years ago, I emphasized the need to foster the local water industry through a five-minute free speech, but the inconveniences faced by companies in the Water Industry Cluster remain unresolved, and the industry's growth continues to stagnate." He added, "It is now time for Daegu City to take a responsible approach to revitalize the Water Industry Cluster and improve the settlement conditions for companies, thereby driving a new leap forward for the regional water industry," explaining the purpose of his inquiry.
Park also pointed out, "Regarding the water industry budget, the fact that the budget for fostering the water industry was reduced by an average of 23% annually, totaling a 54% cut from 2022 to 2025, contradicts the goal of becoming a 'hub city for the water industry.'" He stressed, "A comprehensive improvement plan, including securing future budgets, must be presented."
He further emphasized, "The key to revitalizing the water industry lies in the sustainable growth of tenant companies," and called for Daegu City to take proactive measures to provide practical support, such as encouraging long-term employment, preventing the outflow of talented personnel, and expanding transportation, residential, and living infrastructure.
Park Jongpil stressed, "Revitalizing the Water Industry Cluster and improving the settlement conditions for tenant companies are tasks that can no longer be postponed," and emphasized that "Daegu City must go beyond mere slogans and take responsible action to bring about a genuine leap forward for the regional water industry."
