Governor Kim Tae-heum: "We Will Create a Geumsan-Style Development Model Leading Carbon Neutrality and Driving the Local Economy"
Chungnam Province is focusing its administrative efforts on key issues for the sustainable future development of Geumsan County, including the construction of an eco-friendly pumped-storage power plant with a total investment of 1.65 trillion won, the relocation and construction of a new public health center, the creation of a specialized atopy healing village, and the establishment of a rural Live Together community.
On November 4, Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum visited Geumsan County to hold a dialogue with residents and review the progress of major initiatives.
He also attended a press conference and subsequently visited the planned site for the pumped-storage power plant and the completion ceremony for the administrative building at Geumsan Fire Station.
The pumped-storage power plant, to be built in Eojaeri, Buri-myeon, Geumsan County, is a large-scale energy infrastructure project with a total budget of 1.65 trillion won, aiming for completion by the end of 2037.
Korea South-East Power Company will participate as the project operator, and the facility will have a capacity of 500 MW.
Governor Kim stated, "Pumped-storage power is a key driver of the carbon-neutral economy, and we will make Geumsan a hub for energy transition."
Additionally, the Geumsan County Public Health Center will be relocated and newly constructed in Sang-ri, Geumsan-eup, with a total investment of 27 billion won. The new six-story building will be equipped with the latest medical equipment.
Furthermore, an atopy healing village with a total investment of 29.6 billion won will be created in Sankkot Village, Gunbuk-myeon, to strengthen health, care, and residential functions.
In addition, 21 units of the "Chungnam-style Rural Live Together" project for young farmers will begin construction within this year in the Nam-il District of Geumsan.
The province expects these projects to contribute to population inflow, revitalization of the local economy, and stabilization of rural housing.
Governor Kim emphasized, "We will concentrate the province's capabilities so that Geumsan can emerge as a center of eco-friendly energy and the quality of life for residents can be further improved."
