Theme of Carbon Neutrality, Life, and Forest
Learning the Values of Life and Coexistence in Nature
On November 4, the laughter of children spread like the autumn breeze at the "Neorang Narang Forest Experience Center for Children" in Ajidong, Yeongju City.
The forest was filled with joy as more than 1,000 family participants gathered for the "Family Forest" event, supported by Yeongju City and organized by the Yeongju branch of the Korea Forest Kindergarten Association Gyeongbuk Chapter.
This event was held under the theme of "Carbon Neutrality, Life Preservation, and Forest Experience."
As part of a forest program support project aimed at fostering holistic growth in young children and strengthening family bonds, participants experienced the value of life and the meaning of carbon neutrality firsthand by immersing themselves in the changing nature around them.
The children picked up and observed leaves, drew pictures on the ground, and became friends with the autumn forest. Parents joined in activities such as playing with firewood, fabric play, and woodworking experiences, reclaiming "family time" that is often forgotten in daily life.
Kim, a child from Art Daycare Center who participated in the event, said with a bright smile, "It was so much fun playing in the forest with my mom and dad. I want to come again!"
Yu Jeonggeun, Acting Mayor of Yeongju City, stated, "The Family Forest was a meaningful opportunity for children to connect with nature and for parents to participate together, strengthening family bonds. We will continue to expand various forest experience programs so that citizens can enjoy healthy and joyful leisure time in nature."
The Neorang Narang Forest Experience Center for Children in Ajidong was established in 2018 as a 20,000-square-meter forest education space with a total project cost of 200 million won.
Since its opening in 2019, it has become a nature-friendly educational venue where young children learn the value of nature while playing in the forest. Each year, it operates a variety of forest experience programs, contributing to early childhood education in the region and the spread of forest culture.
