On November 3, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation held the 'Export Growth Planet (Plan it!)' certificate awarding ceremony at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul, aiming to foster small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies into global export businesses.
'Export Growth Planet' is a growth-stage customized support program first introduced by Korea Trade Insurance Corporation in July of last year. Its goal is to nurture SMEs and mid-sized companies with technological capabilities and potential into leading global exporters. After selecting 41 member companies in its inaugural year, the program added 23 new member companies this year through an open recruitment process and professional screening.
The event was attended by Jang Youngjin, President of Korea Trade Insurance Corporation; Kim Jongwoo, Director of Export-Import Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Park Janghyuk, Executive Director for Global Growth at the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency; Seo Yooseok, Deputy President of Hana Bank; and Lee Geonhong, Deputy President of Industrial Bank of Korea. President Jang presented certificates to the representatives of the new member companies and pledged to strengthen cooperation going forward.
Export Growth Planet classifies member companies into three stages based on their annual export volume: Emerging Star (up to USD 1 million), Rising Star (up to USD 30 million), and Shining Star (over USD 30 million), and provides tailored preferential support for each stage. Key benefits include a special export credit guarantee limit of up to KRW 10 billion, up to 90% discount on insurance and guarantee fees, 30 free overseas company credit investigations, and customized consulting support.
In particular, the program raises the export financing guarantee ratio to 100%, offers a three-year guarantee limit extension without reduction, and exempts joint guarantees, helping companies establish a stable export foundation. Since the program's launch in July last year, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation has provided a total of KRW 1 trillion in trade insurance to member companies.
President Jang emphasized, "We will focus all our efforts so that Export Growth Planet can become a core growth platform in Korea's export ecosystem," adding, "Korea Trade Insurance Corporation will continue to be a reliable partner in the global growth journey of our member companies."
