Dedicated Collection Bins Installed at Township and Town Administrative Welfare Centers
Safe Disposal Through Designated Companies
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will conduct a "concentrated collection of waste pesticides" at township and town administrative welfare centers until November 17, in order to prevent environmental pollution and ensure residents' safety.
Until now, empty pesticide containers have been collected as recyclables through organizations such as the Environmental Corporation. However, there has been no separate disposal system for leftover waste pesticides after use, resulting in many cases where they are left unattended on farms or illegally discharged. This has been pointed out as a potential cause of safety accidents that can lead to soil and water pollution, as well as human casualties.
Accordingly, the county has installed dedicated collection bins for waste pesticides at each township and town administrative welfare center and will intensively collect waste pesticides during the agricultural waste collection period (November 3-17).
Farmers are required to visit their nearby administrative welfare center during this period to deposit any remaining pesticides in the collection bins, while empty containers should be disposed of separately.
The collected waste pesticides will be safely incinerated and processed through designated waste disposal companies.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "This waste pesticide collection project will provide tangible benefits for the safety of our residents and environmental improvement," and added, "I hope all farmers will actively participate to help create a clean rural environment."
