Former KTU Branch Head Jeong Sunghong Urges Investigation and Indictment in Gwangju Office of Education Audit Officer Corruption

Jeong Sunghong, former head of the Gwangju branch of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, held a press conference on the 3rd in front of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, urging the prosecution to conduct a thorough investigation and promptly indict those involved in the allegations of hiring corruption related to the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education's audit officer.

Former KTU Branch Head Jeong Sunghong Urges Investigation and Indictment in Gwangju Office of Education Audit Officer Corruption Jeong Sunghong, former head of the Gwangju branch of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, held a press conference on the 3rd in front of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, urging a thorough investigation and prosecution regarding allegations of hiring corruption involving the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education's audit officer.

Jeong pointed out, "The favoritism toward close associates and personnel corruption that emerged during the hiring process for the audit officer at the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education has deeply disappointed both citizens and the teaching community," adding, "Even though the personnel officer in charge has already been sentenced to prison, the investigation and prosecution of key figures remain sluggish."


He emphasized, "When the fairness and integrity of educational administration collapse, it is the students and parents who ultimately suffer," and continued, "The prosecution must not delay any further and should clearly reveal, in accordance with the law and principles, who gave the instructions, how the scores were manipulated, and who benefited."


He went on to say, "We will restore Gwangju education as a source of civic pride through a resolute stance against corruption in educational administration and a culture of adherence to principles," adding, "We will regain trust in Gwangju education through just educational administration."
