On November 1, the Seo-gu District of Gwangju Metropolitan City held the 2nd "Seo-gu Family Dahamkke Moryeorak" Festival at Geumbu Elementary School, creating a space for communication and harmony where diverse families could come together.
This event, organized by the Gwangju Seo-gu Family Center, brought together more than 80 families and over 250 participants.
The festival began with an opening ceremony in which multicultural families from 11 countries, including Korea, entered while holding their national flags. The program featured a variety of activities that bridged generations and cultures, including family competitions, age-specific games, and traditional group play.
The event venue was divided into several zones: the Sharing Zone (a resident-participation flea market), the Play Zone (stationery experience, claw machine, and arm wrestling competition), and the Promotion Zone (information on center programs and promotion of the Gwangju Child Protection Agency), creating an open festival space where all residents could enjoy and participate.
Multicultural families who attended the festival shared their impressions, saying, "Watching the opening ceremony, with participants wearing traditional attire and carrying their national flags, we felt the beauty of Seo-gu, where diverse cultures coexist. Although our families come from different backgrounds and cultures, we have grown closer as neighbors."
Yoon Hyekyung, Director of the Gwangju Seo-gu Family Center, said, "This festival was a meaningful occasion where diverse families could laugh and communicate together."
