According to The Guardian on October 31 (local time), the administration of President Donald Trump has decided not to dispatch an official delegation to the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in Bel?m, Brazil, from November 10 to 21.

As a result, COP30, the highest-level international conference where government representatives and international organizations gather to discuss climate change response policies, will proceed without the participation of an official U.S. delegation.

President Trump defines the climate crisis as a "lie" or a "hoax." As soon as he began his second term, he declared that the United States would withdraw from the Paris Agreement, in which countries pledged to take practical actions to curb global warming.

He made this declaration immediately upon starting his second term. In his speech at the United Nations last September, President Trump also urged foreign leaders to move away from reliance on renewable energy, warning, "If you do not break free from this green scam, your countries will fail."

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to The Guardian, "If President Trump had not been elected and implemented common-sense energy policies, the 'new green scam' would have destroyed the United States." She added, "These policies focus on utilizing the liquid gold beneath our feet to strengthen grid stability and lower costs for American households and businesses."

Although there will be no official government delegation, a private U.S. delegation consisting of governors, lawmakers, mayors, and activists will participate in COP30. However, the U.S. government will not provide any support to these participants.
