Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will be recruiting members for the 'Illegal Banner Citizen Collection Team' from November 3 to November 20 to create a pleasant street environment.

The city explained that this initiative aims to eradicate so-called 'guerrilla banners,' which are put up on holidays and at night, and to proactively prevent potential property damage issues that may arise when private citizens remove illegal advertisements.
The team will consist of 38 members. Any citizen of Yongin City between the ages of 20 and 70 who can take photos with a smartphone and register maintenance records is eligible to apply. However, the following are excluded from applying: advertisement maintenance workers, street cleaners, outdoor advertising business employees, and participants (including family members) in public work or Hope Job programs.
Applicants should bring a passport photo and a copy of their resident registration certificate and apply in person at the administrative welfare center of their town, township, or neighborhood. Selected citizens will participate after completing training and will be active until June next year.
The city will compensate 3,000 KRW per horizontal commercial banner and 1,500 KRW per vertical scroll-type banner collected by the team. The maximum monthly compensation per person is 1 million KRW.
A city official stated, "Through a well-organized Illegal Banner Citizen Collection Team system, we will encourage both a pleasant street environment and voluntary citizen participation."
