Eun Hyunjang: "Punitive Damages Must Be Introduced"
Purchased 50% Stake in Gaseyeon to Remove Kim Seui
Eun Hyunjang, who operates the YouTube channel "Jangsaui Sin," appeared at the National Assembly audit and revealed that he purchased a 50% stake in Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) to remove CEO Kim Seui from his position. Eun emphasized the need to introduce punitive damages, arguing that cyber-rekka channels like Gaseyeon are generating enormous profits from content based on false information.

On the 30th, Lee Junseok, a lawmaker from the Reform New Party, invited Eun to the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee's audit as a witness to highlight the seriousness of cyber-rekka. Eun had suffered damages due to Gaseyeon's ongoing attacks. Since 2023, Gaseyeon, where Kim Seui is a member, along with several other cyber-rekka YouTubers, have raised various allegations against Eun, such as "stock price manipulation suspicions" and "fake success stories" regarding "Jangsaui Sin."
Eun reported the damages caused by cyber-rekka channels like Gaseyeon and called for stronger regulations against them. The term "cyber-rekka" refers to YouTubers who create video content about negative issues involving celebrities for financial gain. Eun, an entrepreneur who founded a chicken franchise, claimed to have suffered significant harm due to Gaseyeon's dissemination of false information and is actively responding to it. In particular, he reportedly acquired a 50% stake in Gaseyeon last year by purchasing shares that attorney Kang Yongseok had sold to a third party. Although Gaseyeon filed a lawsuit, the court granted a provisional disposition recognizing Eun's temporary shareholder status in June. Eun convened a general shareholders' meeting and passed a resolution to set Kim's salary at zero won.
When asked by lawmaker Lee Junseok about the reason for purchasing Gaseyeon shares, Eun responded, "It would be best to resolve this through the law, but it takes a long time to punish someone legally. So, while pursuing legal action, I personally acquired Gaseyeon shares to remove Kim from his position." Eun criticized Gaseyeon's broadcasts as "99% fabrication and fraud," adding, "Gaseyeon aired (false) broadcasts targeting actor Kim Soohyun and Tzuyang, and although lawsuits were filed, proper investigations have not been conducted. The police must conduct thorough investigations to prevent further victims."
