Fostering Security Awareness and Strengthening Legislative Competency
The Gumi City Council (Chairman Park Kyosang) successfully concluded its 2025 legislative training program, which was held over three days and two nights from October 27 to 29 in various locations across Incheon Metropolitan City, including Baengnyeong Island.
This training session was attended by 25 participants, including Gumi City Council members and staff. The program aimed to strengthen legislative competency in response to the rapidly changing administrative environment and to foster security awareness through a visit to the northernmost border area of the West Sea.
On the first day, a customized special lecture was held to enhance the professionalism and competency of legislative work. Council members and staff attended educational sessions on “Image Branding Strategies for Successful Legislative Activities” and “Utilizing Legislative Activities in the AI Era,” exploring ways to establish a trustworthy image of the council among citizens and to incorporate the latest social trends into legislative practices.
On the second day, participants visited Baengnyeong Island, the northernmost point of the West Sea, to reinforce their sense of security. They toured key areas of Baengnyeong Island, such as Simcheonggak and Dumujin. Notably, they visited the memorial tower for the 26 fallen sailors of the Cheonan warship, where they laid flowers and held a memorial ceremony, reflecting on the importance of national security and the value of peace.
On the third day, the group visited the Incheon Landing Operation Memorial Hall, reaffirming their strong commitment to national security and concluding the entire schedule.
Chairman Park Kyosang stated, “This training was a valuable opportunity to enhance our legislative expertise through education on future technologies such as AI, while also directly experiencing the importance of security by honoring the noble sacrifices of the Cheonan warship heroes. Based on the knowledge and experiences gained from this training, we will further dedicate ourselves as a council committed to the safety of our citizens and the development of Gumi City.”
