Finale of Youth Yanggu’s Three Major Festivals... "Super" Fun Awaits
A Festival Where Everyone Can Join the "Open Singing Contest"
The 2025 Youth Yanggu Punch Bowl Dried Radish and Apple Festival will be held for three days from October 31 to November 2 in the area around Seonghwangji, in front of the Punch Bowl Healing House in Haean-myeon.
This year's festival, themed "Super Punch Bowl," will feature a variety of promotional, exhibition, food, performance, and hands-on programs centered around Yanggu's signature agricultural specialties: dried radish greens and apples.
In particular, during the festival, visitors will be able to purchase high-quality dried radish greens and apples at reasonable prices through direct transactions with local farmers, which is expected to further enhance visitor satisfaction.
The Dried Radish and Apple Festival is the last of Yanggu County's three major festivals (Gomchwi Festival, Belly Button Festival, and Dried Radish and Apple Festival). It is themed around Yanggu dried radish greens, which recently gained attention as a "K-Food Ingredient" after being mentioned by President Lee Jaemyung on television, and apples, another representative agricultural product of Yanggu.
At the festival venue, a variety of hands-on programs will be available for families to enjoy together, such as making apple tanghulu, making dried radish facial packs, drawing dried radish and apple characters, and building snack houses using images of the Punch Bowl, dried radish, and apples.
In addition, at the "Dried Radish and Apple Experience Zone," operated by the Rural Experience Village and the Yanggu Rural Experience Tourism Council, visitors can make dishes featuring dried radish and apples, such as dried radish triangle gimbap, dried radish apple gangjeong, and apple waffles. There will also be events such as receiving an apple pin for sharing photos of the experience program on social media, pounding rice cake with dried radish, and tasting Yanggu character bread.
Local restaurants will serve a variety of dishes using dried radish, such as dried radish yukgaejang and dried radish gochujang pancakes. At the cafe and snack zone, visitors can enjoy not only various snacks and foods but also unique offerings such as apple bread, dried radish noodles, and dried radish bulgogi burgers.
During the festival, the main stage will host a variety of performances.
On the first day, October 31, there will be a performance by the Hanjeon Elementary School traditional percussion club from Yanggu, the "Punch Bowl Fun Fun Concert" featuring Napal Park and An Sunyu, and the "Punch Bowl DMZ Concert" featuring Park Guyoon and Jin Hyejin.
On the second day, November 1, there will be performances by the Yanggu acoustic guitar club "Tong Guitar Simile" and the ocarina club "Beodeulhyang," as well as a pre-opening ceremony performance featuring Seok Ijeong, Seok Woo, and Lee Hoil, and an opening celebration concert featuring Cyburger and Kim Dahyun. The Dol Sanryeong Jigenori Preservation Association will present the "Dol Sanryeong Jigenori" traditional performance, and anyone attending the festival can participate in the "Punch Bowl Open Singing Contest," further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
On the final day, November 2, the festival will conclude with a performance by the Yanggu club MELT, followed by the "Punch Bowl Youth Yanggu Concert" featuring Jaeha and Lim Joory, and the "Punch Bowl Haean Residents Singing Contest," marking a spectacular finale to the event.
In addition, a variety of events will be held for visitors at the festival venue. Those who spend more than 10,000 won at the festival will receive an eco-friendly dishcloth, and those who participate in the on-site survey will receive an eco-friendly reusable bag. Visitors who verify attendance at all three of Yanggu County's major festivals (Gomchwi, Belly Button, and Dried Radish and Apple Festival) will receive a gift set of Yanggu's local specialties (dried radish, apple juice, yakgwa, and Yanggu rice).
Yanggu County will actively introduce the use of reusable containers at this year's Dried Radish and Apple Festival to create an eco-friendly event that everyone can participate in. Local restaurants and food booths will be provided with reusable containers, and collection and recycling bins will be set up to reduce waste. In addition, a comprehensive price monitoring center will be operated to check food and product prices and prevent price gouging.
