Six Sejong City Council members from the People Power Party visited Jeju Island for a three-day schedule. This visit was arranged at the invitation of the Jeju Provincial Council, with a workshop taking place from the 27th for three days. Assemblyman Choi Wonseok, who was originally scheduled to participate along with all seven members, was absent due to personal reasons.
This event, which served as a joint training session for local council members as well as a workshop and on-site visit for party members, also included an exchange and cooperation meeting with the Jeju Provincial Council.
Hong Nayoung, Floor Leader of the People Power Party in Sejong City Council, who organized the workshop, said, "Together with fellow council members, we visited Dongmun Market (Dongmun Night Market), the specialized street (Black Pork Street), and the Sanjicheon Archive Exhibition Hall, and found many points that could be connected to Sejong City."
According to Floor Leader Hong, the purpose was to strengthen unity among party members and to directly observe the vibrant streets of Jeju, which is often referred to as the origin of Sejong City, in order to find ways to apply these experiences to Sejong City.
Hong added, "Visiting Dongmun Market and the specialized street in Jeju provided a meaningful opportunity to compare and analyze them for the development of Jochiwon Traditional Market and Daepyeong Market. I strongly agreed with Jeju’s efforts to continuously attract young tourists by offering a variety of foods and unique local processed products as entertainment options."
She continued, "I was able to experience firsthand how many tourists and locals tour the streets at night, and it was a valuable time to reflect once again with my fellow council members on what is needed for the development of our region."
