Gwangjin District to Host "Gwangjin Youth Festival" on November 1

To Be Held at the Seoul Metropolitan Gwangjin Youth Center and Surrounding Area

Gwangjin District in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Kim Kyungho) will host the "2025 Gwangjin Youth Festival" on November 1, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the area surrounding the Seoul Metropolitan Gwangjin Youth Center.

Now in its ninth year, this event will bring together 795 participants from 72 teams, including youth clubs, the Gwangjin District Youth Organization Council, and local community schools. It is an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents and gain a variety of experiences. The festival aims to strengthen communication with the local community through the autonomous participation of youth.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Sunken Garden of the Gwangjin Youth Center, beginning with a performance by the Daewon High School band "Ones," followed by performances from 15 youth clubs. The stage program will feature a diverse range of genres, including dance, cheerleading, traditional Korean music, samulnori, and musicals, offering a rich array of attractions.

In the outdoor area around the center, 57 teams will operate experience booths. Activities designed to stimulate creativity and curiosity among youth will include craft experiences such as making bookmarks, keychains, and badges, as well as hands-on science activities like creating cube-shaped bubbles and rainbow towers.

Of particular note is the Fourth Industrial Revolution Experience Zone, which offers a preview of the "Gwangjin Future Technology Experience Center" scheduled to open in December this year. This zone will feature creative convergence learning programs utilizing advanced technologies, such as a virtual reality (VR) experience bus, artificial intelligence Go matches, and battle robots.

This year's festival will offer an even wider variety of programs by linking the "Ttobagi Festival" organized by the Gwangjin District Youth Organization Council with the district's youth club initiative, "Eoullim Madang." In the "Ttobagi Festival Zone" and "Eoullim Madang Zone," visitors can receive youth policy consultations and participate in science experiences such as making drinks and yogurt using sodium alginate.

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, "This festival is a truly participatory event, planned and led by our youth, who are the leaders of the future. It will be a precious opportunity to witness their passionate performances." He added, "We will continue to actively support a wide range of educational programs so that young people can nurture their dreams to the fullest."
