Philoptics' TGV Technology Recognized by Government... Selected as Outstanding Materials, Parts, and Equipment Company

Philoptics' TGV Technology Recognized by Government... Selected as Outstanding Materials, Parts, and Equipment Company Kisu Han, CEO of Philoptics. Provided by Philoptics

Philoptics (CEO Kisu Han) announced on October 29 that its TGV (Through Glass Via, glass through-electrode manufacturing) technology has been recognized for excellence by the government.

On this day, Philoptics revealed that it had been selected for the fifth cohort of the “2025 Outstanding Companies in Materials, Parts, and Equipment (Specialized Leading Companies)” program, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is reported that around 90 companies applied for this program, from which about 10 were chosen.

Philoptics stated that its proactive recognition of the importance of TGV technology, along with a solid track record from patent applications to orders and shipments, played a key role in its selection. The company plans to accelerate its global expansion through technological advancement.

Philoptics has positioned its glass substrate processing technology for semiconductor packaging as a core strategic technology. The glass substrate industry is drawing global attention due to its advantages such as high insulation, high flatness, and low thermal deformation. These benefits enable higher integration of packages, which boosts chip performance and increases power efficiency. This is why many companies, both domestic and international, are entering the glass substrate business.

As an Outstanding Company, Philoptics will begin full-scale research to advance its laser TGV (Through Glass Via) process technology for semiconductor packaging glass substrates, supported by tailored government assistance. The company plans to focus its R&D efforts on improving the processing speed and precision of glass substrates, thereby widening its technological gap and securing a competitive edge. Based on its technological leadership, Philoptics aims to collaborate with global companies and establish its own value chain.

This research and development initiative will also include Innorobotics, a company specializing in stage development, and PIE, a company specializing in vision inspection. Philoptics will serve as the lead organization, with Innorobotics and PIE participating as joint research institutions.

A Philoptics representative stated, "Since 2019, the company has been internalizing TGV technology and now holds several domestic and international patents," adding, "Our proactive response to the future of the glass substrate industry has resulted in this recognition as an Outstanding Company."

The representative continued, "Given the promising nature of this industry, the emergence of competitors cannot be ruled out. We will continue to focus our resources on R&D to further advance our technology and expand our collaborations and business networks with global companies."
