Pocheon City Launches Research Project on Customized Educational Support Measures for Multicultural Students

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyun), held a kickoff meeting for the "Research Service on Customized Educational Support Measures for Multicultural Students in Pocheon" on the 28th at the Pocheon City Hall Administrative Meeting Room.

This research project aims to establish a regionally tailored educational support system to guarantee the learning rights of multicultural students and promote social integration.


The main areas of the research include: an analysis of the current status of multicultural students and educational policies in Pocheon; a feasibility study on the establishment of a specialized educational institution for multicultural students; and proposals for the operation of such an institution. The findings will serve as foundational data for developing effective educational support measures tailored to Pocheon's circumstances.


The kickoff meeting was attended by Baek Younghyun, Mayor of Pocheon; Kim Hyungyu, member of the Pocheon City Council; the head of the education department at the Pocheon Office of Education; as well as faculty and staff from local kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools. Participants engaged in discussions and shared various opinions on the direction and plans for the research project.


Attendees emphasized the necessity of establishing a specialized educational institution for multicultural students that reflects the unique characteristics of the region and the needs of its citizens, as well as the importance of developing customized educational support measures. They expressed hope that this research would serve as a catalyst for bridging educational gaps and promoting social integration among multicultural students.


Baek Younghyun, Mayor of Pocheon, stated, "This research project is an important step in laying the groundwork for establishing a specialized educational institution for multicultural students in Pocheon, the central city of northern Gyeonggi Province. We will actively support the project to ensure that the diverse opinions presented at the kickoff meeting are fully reflected and that effective research outcomes are achieved."
