Kakao Social Contribution Platform Surpasses 100 Billion Won in Cumulative Donations

Monthly Donation Participation Event Runs Until November 30

Kakao Social Contribution Platform Surpasses 100 Billion Won in Cumulative Donations

On October 29, Kakao announced that its social contribution platform, Kakao Together Value, has surpassed a cumulative donation total of 100 billion won.

According to Kakao, Kakao Together Value, now in its 18th year, has seen 5.8 million donors participate in 70 million donations to date. This means that one out of every ten people in South Korea has participated in sharing through Kakao Together Value.

The largest single fundraising effort was for wildfire recovery support in March this year in regions such as Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan, raising 11.1 billion won. In 2020, 5.39 billion won was raised to overcome COVID-19, and in 2023, 4.78 billion won was raised for the T?rkiye-Syria earthquake.

Launched in 2007, Kakao Together Value has been spreading a culture of everyday giving through participation donations, joint donations, and monthly donations. To date, a total of 20,000 public interest projects have been launched, with donations supporting a wide range of causes such as disaster emergency fundraising, support for children and youth, protection of companion animals, and environmental improvement.

To commemorate reaching the 100 billion won milestone, Kakao is holding a "Monthly Donation Participation Event" until November 30. The monthly donation service, launched in March last year, allows donors to choose one of six themes-Children's Dreams, Animal Friends, Green Earth, A World Without Discrimination, Precious Neighbors, and A Wider Society-for regular giving. If "Balanced Donation" is selected, the donation is automatically distributed to a different theme each month.

Kwon Daeyeol, Head of ESG at Kakao, said, "Kakao Together Value will continue to create an environment where more people can naturally participate in sharing in their daily lives, under the slogan 'The Beginning of Easy Giving.'"
