Witnesses stated, "Right after hearing a child's cries and screams from the fourth-floor window, people found the newborn lying on the concrete ground." One nearby resident described the scene, saying, "It was so horrific that my legs gave out for a moment."

The police have registered the case as a formal criminal investigation and are looking into the exact circumstances and motives. Investigators believe it is likely that the 5-year-old girl acted impulsively, possibly out of jealousy or curiosity toward her sibling.

Police are also investigating why the parents left the two children alone at home at the time of the incident. Local prosecutors are considering charging the mother with child neglect.

Mikhail Afanasyev, the head of the Zelenodolsk district in Tatarstan, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased infant and urged all parents to be careful not to leave their children home alone.
