Hanwha Robotics and Maum AI to Pursue Commercialization of 'Physical AI' Robots

Application of Autonomous Decision-Making Robot Control Model "WoRV"

Hanwha Robotics and Maum AI are working together to commercialize 'physical artificial intelligence (AI)' robots that can see, hear, and make decisions on their own.

Hanwha Robotics announced on October 29 that Jung Byungchan, CEO of Hanwha Robotics, and Choi Hongseop, CEO of Maum AI, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the field of physical AI at Maum AI's headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on October 28. Physical AI refers to technology that enables robots to recognize their surroundings, make independent decisions, and perform necessary actions accordingly.

Under this agreement, the two companies will apply Maum AI's vision-language-action (VLA)-based autonomous control model, WoRV, to the next-generation robotics platform and pursue its commercialization. In addition, they plan to jointly build and utilize a Digital Proving Ground (DPG), which digitally replicates the functions of a test site for product evaluation. By strengthening demonstration and verification systems, they aim to enhance the reliability of physical AI technology and expand its application to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, and services.

Maum AI is an AI platform company leading the domestic physical AI ecosystem. The company has demonstrated its technological capabilities by independently developing physical AI models and applying them to industrial sites such as autonomous agricultural machinery, patrol robots, and barrier-free kiosks. A Hanwha Robotics representative stated, "With this agreement, we expect to introduce physical AI technologies tailored to various industrial sites," adding, "We will continue to actively collaborate to become a leading company in the field of physical AI not only in Korea but also in the global robotics market."
