Major Queen Jeon Inji Returns After 10 Years

Competing at the KLPGA Tour S-OIL Championship
Champion of Back-to-Back Titles in 2014 and 2015
"I am determined to lift the championship trophy in Jeju once again"

The major champion Jeon Inji has returned.

Starting from October 30, the KLPGA Tour S-OIL Championship (total prize money: 1 billion won) will be held for four days at Elysian Country Club (par 72) in Seogwipo, Jeju. Jeon will compete in this tournament for the first time in 10 years since she achieved back-to-back victories in 2014 and 2015.

Jeon Inji is known as a major hunter. She has conquered major tournaments in Korea, Japan, and the United States. She claimed her first career victory at the Korea Women's Open in 2013, and in 2015, she became the youngest-ever winner (20 years and 273 days old) at the Salonpas Cup on the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour. In the same year, she won the US Women's Open as a non-member. After debuting on the LPGA Tour in 2016, she captured the major title at the Evian Championship and swept the Rookie of the Year and lowest scoring average awards.

However, she has not captured a title for three years since winning the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship in 2022. She suspended her season in May last year due to a back injury and returned to the tour this year. Her world ranking has also dropped to 161st. Her performance on the LPGA Tour this year has not been impressive either, with no top-10 finishes in 17 tournaments. Her best result was a tie for 18th at the major Chevron Championship in April.

This will be Jeon Inji's second appearance on the KLPGA Tour this year. Last month, she tied for 13th at the major KB Financial Star Championship. She stated, "I have built good memories in Jeju. I am determined to lift the championship trophy with S-OIL once again."
