Host the Fourth "Invitation to the World of Distinguished Scientists" Event
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity will host the "2025 4th Cybridge (SciBridge): Invitation to the World of Distinguished Scientists" for students from science high schools and science and arts gifted schools nationwide. This event will take place on October 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Korea Science Academy of KAIST.
This marks the fourth lecture of this year’s Cybridge series. Kim Geunyoung, Principal Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), will deliver a lecture titled "Next-Generation Communication: Beyond Connectivity, the Infrastructure of Innovation." The session will be moderated by the science YouTuber 'Woollim,' who will facilitate communication with the students.

Dr. Kim, a graduate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), is an expert who has participated in the development of Korea’s core mobile communication technologies, from 3.5G Wibro to 6G. He has also accumulated diverse field experience, including conducting extreme environment communication research at Jang Bogo Station in Antarctica. Currently, he is focused on developing next-generation wireless communication systems utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).
In this lecture, Dr. Kim will introduce the history of communication technology development and the future of next-generation communications integrated with AI. He will also share his growth as a researcher and his field experiences with students through a talk-style Q&A session.
Jung Woosung, President of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, stated, "Through this Cybridge event, I hope students will not only gain indirect experience of next-generation communication technologies but also the real-life experiences of scientists, such as research in Antarctica’s extreme environments, and that this will provide them with a deeper understanding of career paths in science and technology."
Meanwhile, "Cybridge (SciBridge)" is a science communication program that invites leading researchers from each field to discuss the 12 national strategic technologies that will drive Korea’s future competitiveness. Detailed information, including lecture schedules and venues, can be found on the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity website.
