Open Recruitment for Facility Operator Until November 4
On October 28, the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, announced that it will conduct a bidding process to select an operator for the stable management of the 'Seomjingang Starlight Sky' aerial descent experience facility, located at Mangdeok Port, as well as to revitalize tourism in Gwangyang.
The 'Seomjingang Starlight Sky Aerial Descent Experience Facility' is an experiential leisure sports attraction where visitors can descend along a wire cable crossing the Seomjingang River, enjoying panoramic views of both Mangdeok Port and the scenic beauty of Baegaldo Island.
This consignment will be awarded to the highest bidder. The contract period runs from the date of signing until December 19, 2027, and the estimated annual price is 110,871,000 won (including value-added tax).
The bidding will be conducted electronically through the Korea Asset Management Corporation's online asset disposal system (Onbid) until 5:00 p.m. on November 4. The bid opening will take place at 10:00 a.m. on November 5 at the Tourism Division's bidding officer's PC at Gwangyang City Hall.
To participate, bidders must be corporations or organizations with at least one year of experience operating aerial descent experience facilities or monorails as of the bid announcement date. They must also have at least two certified safety personnel and the capability to deploy on-site staff. Detailed information on the bidding schedule, eligibility, and required documents can be found in the announcements section of the Gwangyang City Hall website.
Lee Hyunjoo, head of the Tourism Division, stated, "Through this re-bidding, we aim to select a private operator with both expertise and a strong safety record, provide differentiated tourism services, and ultimately extend tourist stays and boost the local economy. We hope for active interest and participation from private companies with creativity and operational capabilities."
Meanwhile, the city held the first round of bidding from September 15 to 24 but received no bids, prompting this re-bidding process. The estimated price has been lowered by 20% compared to the first announcement.
