Violinist Lee Jiyoon and pianist Moon Jiyoung, both of whom have been steadily establishing themselves as performers, will present their first duo concert in Korea.
On November 2, Lee Jiyoon and Moon Jiyoung will hold a duo performance titled "Shades of Autumn" at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center. They will perform all three violin sonatas by Brahms, a composer whom Lee Jiyoon has explored with deep affection and dedication.
Violinist Lee Jiyoon is the first Asian and the youngest concertmaster of the Berlin Staatskapelle, an orchestra founded as a court ensemble in 1570 with a long and distinguished history. After sharing first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition in 2016, she has served as concertmaster of the Berlin Staatskapelle since September 2017. In May of the following year, she was appointed as the orchestra's permanent concertmaster.
Pianist Moon Jiyoung established herself as a world-class performer by becoming the first Korean to win the piano category at the Geneva International Music Competition in 2014 and the Busoni International Piano Competition in 2015.
The two musicians have solidified their reputations by working with renowned conductors over the years. Lee Jiyoon is currently performing under Christian Thielemann, who succeeded Daniel Barenboim as the music director of the Berlin Staatskapelle last year. Moon Jiyoung, recommended by Sir Andras Schiff, is currently touring Europe with both solo and duo performances.
Last year, Lee Jiyoon and Moon Jiyoung performed as a duo at the Rosal?a de Castro Theater in La Coru?a, Spain, presenting works by Brahms, Ravel, and Strauss. This upcoming concert marks their first duo performance in Korea.
