This project was carried out after being selected for the public building green remodeling project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The initiative targets aging public buildings that have been in use for over 10 years, aiming to reduce energy consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions by improving insulation performance and enhancing heating and cooling efficiency.

Beolteo Senior Center, which opened in 1998, underwent interior and exterior insulation reinforcement, replacement of windows with high-efficiency models, improvements to floor heating, and the use of eco-friendly finishing materials through this project.

Last year in Siheung City, 18 senior centers, including Beolteo Senior Center, were selected as sites for the green remodeling project. A total of 1.4 billion won from national and provincial funds and 400 million won from city funds will be invested in the selected sites. Aside from Beolteo Senior Center, seven more centers are scheduled for completion in early December, and the remaining ten are planned to be completed by the end of next year.

This year, three more senior centers-Mulwang 2-tong, Nongok-dong, and Jonam 2-tong-were additionally selected, securing 360 million won in national and provincial funding.

The city plans to continue its efforts to improve the energy efficiency of senior centers, which serve as essential community facilities for the elderly, and to provide a more comfortable and safer environment.
