Hapcheon County Holds 9th Palmandaejanggyeong National Art Competition Awards Ceremony

A Total of 1,276 Works Submitted Nationwide
in Calligraphy, Literary Painting, Folk Painting, and Wood Carving Categories

Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 28th that the award ceremony for the 9th Palmandaejanggyeong National Art Competition 2025, hosted by the county and organized by the Palmandaejanggyeong National Art Competition Organizing Committee, was held at the Millennium Hall of the Tripitaka Koreana Theme Park in Gayamyeon.

This year’s national art competition received a total of 1,276 entries from across the country in the categories of calligraphy, literary painting, folk painting, and wood carving. After a rigorous review, a total of 823 winning works were selected: 4 Grand Prizes, 4 Excellence Awards, 15 Merit Awards, 7 Encouragement Awards, 17 Special Awards, 7 Samche Awards, 320 Selected Awards, and 449 Accepted Awards. The Grand Prizes in each category were awarded to Jeong Jaesik for Chinese calligraphy, Kim Moonsook for literary painting, Jeon Geumsoon for folk painting, and Park Youngsik for wood carving.


County Governor Kim Yooncheol stated in his opening remarks, "I hope this competition serves as a venue for communication and exchange among cultural artists nationwide, providing an opportunity to inherit traditional culture and advance contemporary art," adding, "I expect it will greatly contribute to the prosperity of traditional culture and the arts."


Meanwhile, the Palmandaejanggyeong National Art Competition is held to commemorate the historical value and tradition of the Tripitaka Koreana, to inspire artistic creativity, and to discover new talent. The winning works were exhibited at the Records Culture Hall of the Tripitaka Koreana Theme Park from the 21st to the 25th, where they were presented to visitors.
