The city of Mokpo in South Jeolla Province conducted the "2025 3rd Public Officials' Regional Development Field Trip," where new public officials visited local industrial sites to enhance their understanding of city administration and strengthen their job capabilities.
Through this field trip, which took place on October 24, newly appointed officials were able to visit Mokpo's major industrial sites in person and experience the core direction and vision of the city's administration.
The participants visited the following sites in sequence: the Fisheries Food Export Complex, Mokpo New Port (including the Offshore Wind Power Hinterland Complex and Offshore Wind Power Platform Center), and the Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo venue. At each location, they learned about Mokpo City's strategies for fostering the fisheries food, energy, and gourmet industries, as well as the current status of infrastructure development in these key sectors.
At the expo venue, they explored strategies to enhance the city's brand value through the gourmet industry and to connect it with the tourism sector, directly witnessing Mokpo's potential for future growth. After the field trip, participants experienced the Mokpo Play Park and a yacht tour on the Haemalgeunho, gaining new administrative perspectives by experiencing Mokpo's marine tourism infrastructure from the viewpoints of citizens and tourists.
One new public official shared, "Seeing the major project sites in person, rather than just reading about them in documents, gave me a real sense of the city's direction and scale. I felt proud to be part of the team driving Mokpo's development."
A city official stated, "This field trip provided an opportunity for new public officials to understand Mokpo's industrial sites and grow as key players in regional development. We will continue to strengthen field-oriented training to simultaneously enhance practical capabilities and citizen-centered administration."
