Held in a distributed format across the country
A total of 946 students from 72 teams representing 60 schools in Daejeon are performing well at the National School Sports Club Festival, which is open to elementary, middle, and high school students.
This festival, which began on October 24 and will continue through November, is the largest school sports event in the country. It aims to help students develop healthy bodies and teamwork through voluntary sports activities, and is being held in a distributed format across various regions nationwide.
For this festival, 946 students from 72 teams representing 60 schools who achieved outstanding results at the 21st Daejeon Metropolitan Superintendent's School Sports Club Competition have been selected to participate as representatives of Daejeon. They will compete in a total of 18 events against students from all over the country.
The festival officially kicked off on October 25 with track and field and flying disc competitions.
From the very first day, the students' passion and skills shone brightly, signaling a successful start. In track and field, Gasuwon Elementary School demonstrated excellent ability by taking first place in the girls' 100m, third place in the long jump, and second place in the 400m relay. Chungnam Girls' Middle School achieved remarkable results by winning first place in the girls' 100m, first and third place in the 400m, and first place in the 1000m relay, finishing as the overall runner-up.
Daejeon students also excelled in the flying disc event. Bongsan Elementary School in Daejeon took second place in the girls' division, while Dunsan Middle School in Daejeon also secured second place in the boys' division, marking an excellent start to the festival.
Superintendent Seol Dongho stated, "The National School Sports Club Festival is a valuable opportunity for students to develop healthy habits and grow within the community through sports," and added, "We will continue to support student-centered physical activities in the future."
