Athletics Team Wins Two Gold Medals
Busan’s Reputation as Host City Enhanced
Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) demonstrated the strength of its sports program by winning two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal at the 106th National Sports Festival, which was held from October 17 to 23, 2025.
This event, hosted by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and co-organized by Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Busan Sports Council, brought together teams from 17 cities and provinces across the country to compete in 50 sports disciplines.
Pusan National University participated in five sports: athletics, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, and rugby. The athletics team, led by Coach Yoo Jaehyuk, particularly stood out by securing two gold medals.
Lee Hyunwoo, a senior majoring in Physical Education, won the gold medal in the men's university long jump and, together with junior Noh Hojin and freshman Lim Siwon, added a bronze medal for the Busan relay team in the 400m relay. Lim Siwon also delivered an outstanding performance by winning another gold medal in the 1600m relay. Park Yongbae, a senior, earned a silver medal in the high jump.
In tennis, freshman Hwang Hyowon from the Department of Physical Education showcased his skills by winning a silver medal in the men's university singles event under the guidance of Coach Lee Jaeyoon.
Kim Doyeon, Director of Athletics and Professor in the Department of Physical Education, stated, "Our athletes, who have balanced academic work and training, shone once again at this competition. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that our student-athletes can keep growing."
