The Pyeongtaek Art Center is a modern, multi-purpose performance venue built on a 20,000-square-meter site in Hambaksan Central Park, Godeok New City. The facility spans one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 24,477 square meters. It features a large theater with 1,318 seats and a small theater with 305 seats. The large theater is designed as a multipurpose venue that can flexibly accommodate performances of various sizes and formats.

Construction of the center began in October 2022 and, after more than three years of work, final preparations are now underway for the opening. The project cost totaled 130.1 billion won.

The large theater is equipped with world-class acoustic design and a variable sound system that enables performances across a wide range of genres. The hall features a modified shoebox structure, birch acoustic panels, a diffusive curved ceiling, and a low-frequency reinforcement system, achieving concert hall acoustics with a reverberation time of approximately 2.0 seconds. The city explained that, as a result, it has created a complex acoustic environment that fully supports not only classical music but also musicals and operas.

The small theater is a black box-style multipurpose space, making it suitable for speech-centered performances such as plays, lectures, and creative workshops, as well as for experimental stage productions.

The center is designed as an open cultural space where citizens can naturally experience art in their daily lives. Its proximity to the city center ensures excellent accessibility, and eco-friendly barrier-free design considerations have been implemented so that everyone can use the facility comfortably.

The Pyeongtaek City Cultural Foundation, which will operate the center, has organized various events to celebrate its completion. On December 18, the Pyeongtaek City Korean Traditional Orchestra will perform. On December 24, Christmas Eve, a concert by soprano Jo Sumi will take place. This will be followed by a performance of Carmina Burana by the National Chorus of Korea on December 27.

Jung Jangsun, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "The Pyeongtaek Art Center is more than just a performance venue; it will become a source of pride for our citizens and a cultural and artistic landmark representing southern Gyeonggi Province. I hope this will serve as an opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our citizens through art and to take a step forward as a cultural city."
