Two Categories: Short-Form Videos and Insta-toons
Submissions Accepted Until November 12
Gangnam District in Seoul (District Mayor Cho Sungmyung) will hold the "2025 Gangnam in AI Content Contest" from October 23 to November 12. This contest invites residents to become creators who showcase the charms of Gangnam, freely expressing the district’s landmarks, policies, and future vision using AI.
The contest features two categories: short-form videos and Insta-toons. Notably, a new "Dream Tree" section has been established within the Insta-toon category to encourage youth participation, further expanding the range of community involvement. The first half of the year saw a strong response, with 161 entries submitted to the "Together in Gangnam" contest. For the second half, the focus has shifted to diversity and creativity, reflecting the growing everyday use of AI content in the digital environment.
Participants may enter individually or as a team. The themes include virtual tours of Gangnam’s landmarks, K-beauty and medical tourism, parenting, welfare, healing city, and other district-specific policies, all to be creatively expressed using AI tools. The short-form video category is open to those aged 14 or older, the Insta-toon category to those born in 2006 or earlier, and the Dream Tree section to elementary, middle, and high school students or equivalent youth. Each team (or individual) may submit up to three works.
To enter, participants must upload their work to their personal social media accounts and then apply via Naver Form (Dream Tree entries are accepted by email). Detailed information about the contest is available on the district office’s website. The results will be announced in December. The total prize pool is 23 million won, with 500,000 won awarded to each winner in the general categories and 300,000 won to each Dream Tree winner. If the same person wins in all three categories, they can receive up to 1.5 million won. Winning entries will be promoted on Gangnam District’s official social media channels and electronic billboards.
Cho Sungmyung, Mayor of Gangnam District, stated, “I hope this contest will allow us to capture Gangnam’s present and future in a more fun and creative way using AI,” adding, “We will continue to communicate more closely with residents through various types of promotional content.”
