The Ministry of Science and ICT will host the 'AI Frontier International Symposium' on October 27 at Dragon City in Yongsan, Seoul. This symposium has been organized to share the latest research outcomes in the AI field and explore opportunities for international cooperation.

Leading AI scholars and researchers from Korea's 'National AI Research Hub' in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, and the 'Global AI Frontier Lab' in New York, USA, will come together for this event. They will share major research achievements and engage in in-depth discussions on future research directions, the future vision of AI, and topics such as safety and trust in AI.

The first part of the symposium will feature keynote lectures by world-renowned scholars. Professor Yann LeCun will deliver a keynote speech on 'World Model Learning,' while Professor Choi Yejin will speak on 'Democratizing Generative AI: Beyond Scaling Laws,' providing insights into the future direction of AI technology development.

Following the keynote lectures, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, Baek Kyunghoon, will moderate an AI scholars' roundtable featuring Professor Yann LeCun, Professor Choi Yejin, Professor Cho Kyunghyun, and Professor Kim Kieung. The roundtable will cover a broad range of topics including AI governance, the present and future of AI technology, and the social impact of AI technologies.

The second part will include sessions to share the outcomes of joint research and advanced research directions pursued by the National AI Research Hub and the Global AI Frontier Lab. In the 'National AI Research Hub' session, domestic researchers and international scholars from countries such as Japan, France, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will present a variety of research achievements on physical AI. The 'Global AI Frontier Lab' session will feature research presentations from institutions such as New York University and Yonsei University on new core AI algorithms and trustworthy AI. In addition, the latest research trends in advanced AI applications for healthcare and robotics will be introduced.

Subsequently, from October 28 to 29, a workshop attended by around 100 AI researchers will be held to share the current state of research between Korean and American researchers and to explore future research directions on topics such as core AI algorithms, trustworthy and responsible AI, and AI healthcare.

Deputy Prime Minister Baek Kyunghoon stated, "This symposium will be a significant milestone for Korean AI research to advance to a world-class level and to pioneer new frontiers in AI technology," adding, "We will further strengthen the international competitiveness of domestic AI research and accelerate the establishment of a global AI research cooperation ecosystem."
