From October 26, Up to 4,973 Weekly International Flights Across 248 Routes
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on October 26 that it has finalized the international and domestic flight schedules for this year's winter season, as applied for by domestic and foreign airlines. The winter schedule runs from this day until March 28 of next year.
During the winter, there will be up to 4,973 international flights per week across 248 routes. This is 76 more flights than last winter, approaching the level seen in the winter of 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic (4,980 flights).
By route, Southeast Asian destinations, which are especially popular during the winter season, have increased by 36.7% to 381 flights per week compared to the summer schedule. In particular, flights to Vietnam have risen to 234 per week (up 64.6%), Singapore to 26 per week (up 29.5%), and Thailand to 41 per week (up 22.8%). New routes have also been added, focusing on regional airports, such as Busan-Almaty in Kazakhstan, Daegu-Chiang Mai in Thailand, and Daegu-Vientiane in Laos, further diversifying the network.
For domestic flights, there will be 1,784 flights per week across a total of 20 routes, including 12 routes to Jeju and 8 inland routes. Of these, 1,502 flights per week are on the Jeju routes. The Yangyang Airport service to Jeju, which was suspended in 2023, will resume operations (operated by Parata Airlines).
The Ministry explained that this winter schedule was finalized after reviewing the safety management plans for changes in flight operations submitted by domestic airlines, in line with the strengthened safety stance following a series of aviation incidents. Kim Youngguk, Director of Aviation Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "We will strive to enhance passenger convenience and broaden their choices by diversifying routes, while also ensuring thorough safety management for airline operations."
