A special lecture on Dokdo education, focusing on the clear reasons why Dokdo is Korean territory, was held on October 24.
According to Sejong City, the event was organized for around 300 citizens and public officials to mark Dokdo Day on October 25. The city and the Sejong Lifelong Education and Policy Research Institute hosted the lecture as part of Dokdo Education Week, aiming to establish a correct historical understanding of Dokdo and to strengthen awareness of territorial sovereignty.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Yuji Hosaka of Sejong University, a Japanese-born authority on Dokdo research. Professor Hosaka is an expert who has studied Korea-Japan relations and the Dokdo issue for many years, providing objective data and international legal grounds to prove that Dokdo is an inherent territory of the Republic of Korea.
In his lecture, he explained the territorial legitimacy of Dokdo in an accessible way, focusing on historical records, maps, and international precedents.
Lee Sangho, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, stated, "Dokdo is not just a simple island, but a precious territory imbued with the identity and pride of our people. I hope that through this lecture, citizens and public officials will deepen their correct understanding and interest in Dokdo."
Meanwhile, the Sejong Lifelong Education and Policy Research Institute operated the Sejong Citizen University Dokdo Education Week to raise awareness of Dokdo among citizens, offering a variety of programs such as an online Dokdo quiz and screenings of videos related to Dokdo.
