A man in his 20s who attempted to stab and kill his girlfriend on the way back from a trip, but failed, has been handed over to the prosecution while in custody.

The Geoje Police Station in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 24th that they have referred Mr. A, a man in his 20s, to the prosecution under arrest for stabbing his girlfriend with a weapon and attempting to push her into the sea from the Geoje Bridge.

According to police, at around 5:50 a.m. on October 15, Mr. A is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Ms. B, a woman in her 20s, multiple times in the face and neck with a weapon on the Geoje Bridge toward Busan in Jangmok-myeon, Geoje City, and then attempting to push her over the bridge railing into the sea.

The two, both from North Gyeongsang Province, had been dating for about three years and reportedly went on a two-day, one-night trip to Geoje the day before the incident.
