The Crispness of 700-Meter Highlands vs. Golden Delicacies Forged by the Harsh Winter
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation announced on the 24th that, in celebration of the "2025-2026 Year of Visiting Gangwon," they have selected Pyeongchang County and Inje County as the recommended travel destinations for November and will launch a large-scale promotional marketing campaign to showcase the unique charms of these regions.

For November, they suggest a journey that combines gourmet experiences and healing, themed around the crisp Pyeongchang cabbage grown in pristine highlands at an altitude of 700 meters, and the golden dried pollock from Yongdae-ri, Inje, which has endured the harsh winter cold.
Pyeongchang’s "Highland Cabbage" is a premium cabbage grown in clean highland areas above 700 meters, known for its crisp and firm texture, natural sweetness, and rich, nutty flavor. In particular, from November 5 to 17, the "Pyeongchang Highland Kimchi-Making Festival" takes place, offering visitors a special opportunity to make kimchi themselves using fresh cabbage and Pyeongchang’s local ingredients.
Additionally, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the breathtaking autumn scenery from the "Balwangsan Cable Car," which is the longest in Korea (a round trip of 7.4 km) and ascends to an altitude of 1,458 meters. Walking the "Odaesan Seonjae Trail," a renowned trekking course that harmonizes the thousand-year-old Woljeongsa Temple with forest paths, is also recommended. Furthermore, visitors should try "Osam Bulgogi," a signature local dish from Daegwallyeong in Pyeongchang, which features a perfect combination of chewy squid and savory pork belly.
Inje’s "Yongdae-ri Dried Pollock" is a golden delicacy produced in Inje, where the harsh cold, clean air, and significant temperature differences create optimal conditions for drying pollock. "Dried Pollock Hangover Soup" and "Grilled Dried Pollock" are must-try signature dishes in Inje.
Other recommended sites include "Maebawi Artificial Waterfall," where visitors can experience the unique thrill of winter ice climbing; "Baekdamsa Temple," where poet Han Yongun stayed and wrote "Silence of My Beloved"; "Yeocho Calligraphy Museum and Korean Poetry Book Museum," which offer a taste of literature and art; and the "Inje Smart Complex Rest Area," which boasts a stunning outdoor terrace overlooking Soyang Lake.
The Gangwon Tourism Foundation is preparing a variety of promotional activities both online and offline to intensively promote Pyeongchang and Inje, the recommended destinations for November. Various online events are being prepared through the Year of Visiting Gangwon website and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation’s Instagram, and a promotional booth will be operated in conjunction with major local events to showcase the diverse attractions of Gangwon tourism.
Various discount benefits are also available for visitors to the recommended travel destinations in November. In Pyeongchang County, a 2,000 won discount on admission to the Vienna Doll Museum will be offered to visiting tourists. In Inje County, visitors who present a restaurant receipt of 20,000 won or more can enjoy a 40% discount on the Hapgangjeong Park slingshot and bungee jump. Detailed information can be found on the Year of Visiting Gangwon website.
Choi Sunghyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, stated, "I hope visitors to Pyeongchang and Inje, the recommended travel destinations for November, will experience the warmth and generous hospitality of Gangwon, as well as its delightful flavors, during the chilly late autumn and early winter."
