The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that at 6:21:13 p.m. on October 23, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3 occurred 37 kilometers north of Kilju County, North Hamgyong Province.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the location of the earthquake was at latitude 41.28 degrees north and longitude 129.25 degrees east. The depth of the earthquake was 21 kilometers. The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "It is analyzed as a natural earthquake."
