Gwangju Bank announced on October 23 that it will participate as the lead partner in the 16th Gwangju International Art Fair (hereafter referred to as "Art Gwangju"), which will be held for four days at the entire exhibition hall of the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju until October 26.
During this event, Gwangju Bank will operate an exhibition booth showcasing works by the grand prize winners of the 7th and 8th editions of its flagship cultural and artistic initiative, "Gwangju Hwaru."
"Gwangju Hwaru" is a major Korean painting contest that Gwangju Bank has organized since 2017 to promote the development of local culture and arts. The contest has discovered talented emerging artists and broadened the foundation of the regional art scene. This exhibition aims not only to provide simple sponsorship but also to foster mutual growth with the local art community and expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy art in their daily lives.
As the largest art market in the Honam region, "Art Gwangju" will feature a total of 94 galleries from 11 countries this year, operating more than 100 exhibition booths. The event will present a variety of special exhibitions, including works by artists who represent modern and contemporary art history, a collection exhibition, and a special exhibition for young local artists, allowing visitors to experience masterpieces by renowned artists from Korea and abroad in one place.
Shin Choongsik, Head of Brand Strategy, stated, "Gwangju Bank will continue to share the value of art with local residents and support Gwangju's growth as a global city of culture and the arts," adding, "We will strive to create a sustainable virtuous cycle model for the region, where finance and culture are harmoniously integrated."
