Hyundai Motor Group is partnering with Busan Port Authority to build a smart port utilizing AI technology.
On October 23, Hyundai Motor Group's open innovation platform, ZER01NE, announced that it had signed a "Technical Cooperation Agreement for the Implementation of an AI-Based Smart Port and Expansion of the Startup Ecosystem" with Busan Port Authority at the ZER01NE Studio located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This agreement aims to support the government's national agenda of "Becoming a Top 3 AI Powerhouse" and to actively introduce core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to Busan Port, accelerating its transformation into a smart port.
Through this agreement, Hyundai Motor Group plans to combine the port operation expertise of Busan Port Authority with the advanced technological capabilities of internal and external startups that Hyundai Motor Group invests in and fosters, working together to enhance Busan Port's competitiveness and promote its digital transformation.
Hyundai Motor Group and Busan Port Authority intend to use this agreement as an opportunity to closely collaborate in various areas, including: applying new technologies from Hyundai Motor Group's internal and external startups to the shipping and port industries; creating new industry ecosystems related to smart ports such as digital twins and logistics automation; connecting and demonstrating new technologies; and providing and expanding test beds related to port operations.
A Hyundai Motor Group representative stated, "Through the open innovation platform ZER01NE, Hyundai Motor Group is actively pursuing collaborations with various stakeholders for product, technology, and business innovation," adding, "We hope that through this partnership with Busan Port Authority, ZER01NE startups will contribute to the advancement of the maritime and port sectors."
