[CEO Summit Guide]⑥Companies Roll Up Their Sleeves for APEC... From Transportation to K-Beauty and Ramen

Expansion of Transportation by Korea Airports Corporation and KORAIL
Comprehensive Support Across Accommodation, Food and Beverage, Telecommunications, and IT Platforms

With the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and CEO Summit being held in Korea for the first time in over 20 years, domestic companies are rolling up their sleeves to welcome foreign guests. They are working to ensure smooth travel for international visitors from their arrival in Korea to their journey to Gyeongju, while providing close support across all industries-including accommodation, food and beverage, telecommunications, and IT platforms-to facilitate the seamless operation of the events.

According to the APEC Preparatory Planning Group, there are currently 66 official sponsors and promotional partners. Korea Airports Corporation is expanding facilities at Gimhae and Pohang-Gyeongju Airports near Gyeongju to ensure smooth arrivals and departures. At Gimhae International Airport, a 656-square-meter second departure hall has been set up, which will be used exclusively for APEC from the 27th. At Pohang-Gyeongju Airport, which previously only handled domestic flights, a temporary CIQ (quarantine, immigration, and customs) facility has been established. To prevent safety incidents, navigation facilities within the airports have been upgraded and additional staff have been deployed.

Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) is increasing the number of temporary KTX stops at Gyeongju Station to a total of 46 times during the week from October 27 to November 2, and is operating a dedicated reservation website for APEC participants. Temporary KTX services departing from and arriving at Incheon International Airport are also being operated.

Hyundai Motor Group is providing 192 protocol vehicles for heads of state, ministers, and other participants. Lotte Group, through its affiliates such as Lotte Hotel, is supporting the CEO Summit’s banquet and accommodation on the Yeongilman Cruise. Hanwha Group will enhance the atmosphere of APEC with celebratory fireworks.

The three major telecommunications companies are making every effort to ensure stable network operations throughout Gyeongju during the event. All three have completed the expansion of indoor and outdoor base stations, focusing on the event venues in Gyeongju and the Bomun Complex.

Naver is introducing local shops in Gyeongju to foreign visitors using multilingual versions of Naver Map in English, Chinese, and Japanese. Kakao Mobility is operating free shuttle bus routes around the Bomun Complex and providing real-time traffic control updates and detour information through KakaoNavi.

K-Food will also be offered to event participants. CJ CheilJedang is providing Bibigo Cupbap and Tteokbokki, while Nongshim is supplying 10,000 units of Shin Ramyun in collaboration with K-Pop Demon Hunters. Both companies are official sponsors of the APEC Summit. Food trucks near the event venue will feature booths from Kyochon Chicken, Okdongsik, Cheongnyun Dabang, Mijeongdang, and Buchang Bakery to introduce Korean cuisine to visitors.
